About
I'm a Senior Platform Engineer at Project Canary, where I lead platform engineering across AWS: infrastructure, reliability, access management, observability, and deployment workflows for production systems. Day to day that means Terraform-based infrastructure, CI/CD, and operating critical data systems like PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB at scale.
Before making the switch to platform engineering, I spent eleven years as a design engineer in the energy industry, creating and presenting design plans for chemical plants and refineries to executive staff and global clients like BP, Shell, Exxon, and Chevron. That work ranged from $50,000 to $1 billion in project scope, on teams of up to 200 people. That background is where I picked up the precision and systems thinking that carried over into infrastructure and software.
Outside of my day job, I design and ship real products end to end: the e-commerce platform behind my family's BBQ rub business, an AI-powered barbecue assistant with native iOS and Android apps, and a handful of other web and mobile projects. You can see them on the projects page.
I'm based in Golden, Colorado.
